Young people of Explorer age can join the leadership teams of Beavers, Cubs or Scouts as a Young Leader. This helps young leaders to develop leadership skills.
The Young Leaders’ Scheme is designed to help Young Leaders to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed in their current role, which can be built on if they decide to take out an adult appointment.
The Young Leaders’ Scheme is a programme of 10 training modules and four missions (projects) that Young Leaders complete whilst attending the weekly sessions with that group that they are attached to.
Young Leaders are attached to one of hte Explorer Sections in the District although they do not need to attend Explorers to take part. Some groups also sponsor short term positions for individuals taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh scheme.
